John Clements Principal, Nipmuc Regional High School
John Clements is Principal of Nipmuc Regional High School. He began his career at Nipmuc eighteen years ago as an English teacher. He spent seven years as an assistant principal and is currently in his sixth year as principal. Mr. Clements is passionate about evolving education to meet the needs of the 21st century. He leads a talented team of educators that is focused on continuous improvement including embedding opportunities for active, authentic, and innovative learning. He has acted as a leader of the school’s 1:1 learning program and supported the development of Nipmuc’s STEM and Humanities Scholars Programs. Mr. Clements recently completed his seventh year and final term as a Commissioner for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), serving as one of approximately 25 administrators across New England who establish standards and processes for school accreditation while guiding schools through the accreditation cycle. For the past ten years he has chaired accreditation visiting teams, leading groups of educators in supporting other schools’ improvement efforts. He acts as the chairperson of NEASC’s committee to revise the standards for accreditation, leading the work to update accreditation guidelines for NEASC’s 600+ member schools. He is the recipient of NEASC’s 2016 Jacob Ludes III Leadership Award. Mr. Clements is a believer in the power of professional sharing and best practices as a source of professional growth and development. He moderates a weekly Twitter chat, #thinktankED, connecting educators from different school communities through social media. He has shared his professional work and the achievements of Nipmuc Regional in a variety of venues including the 2014 National Science Teachers’ Association conference, the 2016 Leading Future Learning Conference, the 2015 Learn Launch conference, the 2014, 2015 & 2016 MSSAA Summer Institutes, the 2014, 2015, 2016 Massachusetts STEM Summits, NEASC’s 2016 Annual Meeting, WPI’s STEM Education Center, WPI’s AweSTEM event, and the 2016 National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) conference. In addition, Mr. Clements serves as President of the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports innovative educational programming to assist students’ development of 21st century skills by connecting classrooms with industry.
Mary Anne Moran Associate Principal, Nipmuc Regional High School
Mary Anne Moran is the associate principal at Nipmuc Regional High School. Mrs. Moran began working at Nipmuc in 2003 as a math educator and transitioned into the role of associate principal in 2011. She has collaborated with teachers to redefine teaching and personalize learning through the implementation of a successful 1:1 program as well as promoted authentic learning through the development of 21st Century Learning Conferences. In partnership with students, parents, and community members, in 2013 Mrs. Moran helped launch the Nipmuc STEM Scholars Program followed by the Humanities Scholars Program, focusing on providing students with opportunities to connect their work in the classroom to careers through career exploration, workplace-readiness training, collegiate experiences, and rigorous academic programming. In acknowledgement of her work on the local and state level, Mrs. Moran was named MSSAA Massachusetts 2016 Assistant Principal of the Year. Professionally, Mrs. Moran has shared her work at the Massachusetts STEM Summit, National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) Conference, New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Annual Conference, Massachusetts Assistant Principals’ Conference, MSSAA Summer Institute, as well as at other local high schools. Additionally, Mrs. Moran has worked to bring educators from across the region to Nipmuc to learn about our 1:1 program, STEM Scholars, NEASC accreditation process, as well as 21st Century Learning Conferences.
