“Reaffirming and strengthening America’s role as the world’s engine of scientific discovery and technological innovation is essential to meeting the challenges of this century...That’s why I am committed to making improvement to STEM education of the next decade a national priority.”
-President Barack Obama
Prepare Students for the WorkplaceWhat skills does a student who is ready for the workplace have? It is our job as educators to ensure that we are providing learning experiences to prepare students for the workplace.
While most students are headed off to two or four year colleges, this is never the end goal. At the end of every student's path is hopefully successful employment. It is important that this skill set is not overlooked when considering STEM programming and how we are preparing students for their future. It is important that as a school community you define which of the skills are critical for future success. |
