Develop an Advisory BoardIn your ask of the community, consider the development of an advisory board. Promote Collaboration between Educators and Professionals
Guest PresentersEncouraging teachers to bring professional partners in as guest presenters is a quick and easy way to begin the process of collaboration. Often times these presentations can have an interdisciplinary focus and will partner educators from multiple departments in your school. Students are able to begin thinking about how their learning in the classroom will be relevant and important beyond high school. Additionally, this exposure to professionals will expand students' understanding of careers and career paths.

Co-teaching OpportunitiesCo-teaching provides an opportunity to partner a teaching expert with a professional expert. These partnerships provide such a valuable opportunity to create authentic learning opportunities that capture students' attention and allow them to see the connection between the work that is taking place in the classroom with the work they will do in their career. These lessons provide students an answer to eternal question, "When I am ever going to use this?"

Career ExplorationHave you every had a student tell you that they wanted to be an engineer but when pressed further don't actually know what field of engineering they want to pursue or in fact what an engineer's day looks like? Often times students in high school can identify their strengths but are not quite sure what career they would like to pursue in the future. It is critical that we use professional partners to design opportunities for students to learn about careers and career paths.
